Do bank cards work in Vietnam
Sometimes, and that is the honest answer. A card pays where a terminal exists, but a large part of daily spending in Vietnam is still cash in dong: markets, small cafés, taxis, motorbike rental. UnionPay cards are accepted in the country, though not everywhere, so you find out at the counter rather than in advance.
Cards issued by Russian banks are a separate case: they do not work outside Russia at all, because Visa and Mastercard issued there were cut off from the international networks in 2022 — no payments, no ATM withdrawals. That is why most visitors arrive with cash currency or USDT and convert it to dong locally.

- 1
Check where your card was issued
The issuing country matters more than the logo. A Russian-issued card will not work here. A UnionPay card may work in some places and not in others, so treat it as a backup rather than your main payment method.
- 2
Keep cash dong on you
Markets, small eateries, taxis and bike rentals expect cash. Even when your card works in hotels and larger shops, a day without dong in your pocket is an awkward day.
- 3
Bring something we can exchange
We take USDT on TRC-20 and ERC-20, plus USD, EUR, GBP, RUB, CNY, JPY, KRW, SGD, MYR, PHP and IDR. Rubles come in as an SBP transfer to a phone number — no bank card involved.
- 4
Change it to dong in Da Nang
We fix the rate when you place the request and hold it until the transfer is finished; a normal deal takes 5–10 minutes. You get dong in cash at the office, delivered across Da Nang, or by VietQR transfer to a Vietnamese account.

Why people come to the desk instead of fighting the terminal
- Twelve currencies plus USDT: you bring whatever you already hold, not whatever a random terminal agrees to read.
- Rubles arrive by SBP transfer to a phone number, so a bank card never enters the process.
- The rate is fixed when you place the request and held to the end of the transfer, so the dong figure is known before anything moves.
- We are a registered company, V-HUB ASIA Ltd. Co (reg. no. 0402292881), at 134 Đỗ Bá, and we pay out in cash, by courier in Da Nang, or by VietQR.
Frequently asked
- Does a Russian bank card work in Vietnam?
- No. Cards issued in Russia stop working outside the country: Visa and Mastercard issued there have been disconnected from the international networks since 2022. Neither shop payments nor ATM withdrawals will go through.
- Will a UnionPay card do the job?
- Partly. UnionPay is accepted in Vietnam, but not in every place, and there is no reliable way to know in advance. Carry it as a backup and plan your money around cash.
- Can I pay by card everywhere in Vietnam?
- No. Cash dong stays necessary at markets, small cafés, taxis and bike rentals. A card covers part of your spending, not all of it.
- My card does not work here. How do I get dong?
- Bring cash currency or USDT and exchange it on the spot, or send rubles by SBP to a phone number. The rate is fixed at the moment of the request and a normal deal takes 5–10 minutes. Live rates are on /kurs, exchange terms on /exchange.
- Do I need a Vietnamese bank account?
- No. Collect the dong in cash at 134 Đỗ Bá or have it delivered across Da Nang. An account is only needed if you prefer settlement by VietQR.
